Family caregivers

Caring for a loved one at home? You may qualify for paid family caregiving

Already caring for a parent, grandparent or family member? Through Nevada Medicaid, eligible family members can get paid to provide that care. And it does not have to be a family member: a friend, neighbor or anyone your loved one chooses and trusts may also qualify. AAA Home Care guides you through every step of the process.

Common questions

Questions family caregivers ask

Who can be a paid family caregiver?
It depends on the program your loved one is enrolled in or eligible for, and it does not have to be a relative: a friend, neighbor or anyone your loved one chooses and trusts may qualify. Rather than guess, call us: we will look at your situation and tell you plainly what you may qualify for and what the next step is.
My loved one is not on Medicaid yet. Can you still help?
Yes. We can help you understand available coverage options and next steps, including whether Nevada Medicaid, a waiver program or a county program may apply.
I need a break sometimes. Is that possible?
Yes. Respite care gives family caregivers scheduled relief, for a few hours or a few days, from a caregiver on our team who follows the same routine your loved one is used to.
Do I have to stop caring for my family member while this is arranged?
No. Keep doing what you are doing. Our office helps you through the paperwork and keeps you informed until everything is in place.
